Most foreigners thinking about moving to Thailand are aware of the strict work and employment laws. Most things that a foreigner wants to do requires a work permit to accomplish. Recently there have been new laws and regulations enacted that loosened this up a bit. But I have a few suggestions for an ex pat or foreigner coming to live in Thailand that will accomplish both utilization of their skill set as well as keeping them from being bored.

Hobbies and skill sets can be utilized almost daily when living in Thailand. These days electronic and appliance parts can be purchased in stores as well as online. One such place to purchase these is an online company called Lazada. Here is an affiliate link to their company. http://ho.lazada.co.th/SHAXyi We appreciate if you use the link which will create a small commission which we can pass on to our charitable donations. Another company that has shops in many Thai cities is a company called Amorn Electronics. https://www.amornonline.com/

There are always things that need to be repaired or fixed that you will come across in your daily life in Thailand. You have two options, one just to toss it away and the other is to try to repair it. I remember when I was younger hearing Paul Newman respond to a question a reporter asked about how he had stayed married over all the years in Hollywood when most get divorced. His response was that in their family they always tried to repair things and not just throw them away. He said that applied to appliances as well as their marriage. I think that’s a brilliant philosophy.

One of the common complaints of foreigners or ex-pats living in Thailand is that they are either already or worried about becoming bored. เบื่อ beuua meaning bored; depressed; fed up; downhearted; miserable or น่าเบื่อ naa beuua meaning boring; tedious.

While there’s no need for this to happen or to worry about it. I did a video about helping people in Thailand on a small scale. This is a perfect way to do that. Not only can you tinker around and repair your own electronics and appliances but you could also reach out to those around you both Thais and foreigners and offer to make an attempt to repair something that’s broken. Not only will it be fulfilling personally and also you’ll earn a lot of good karma and respect by doing so.

So remember, when it comes to making a difference and not becoming bored, “there’s always an option”!
