The White Temple - Chiang Rai, Thailand

This Temple is the work of well known artist Ajarn Chalermchai Kositpipat who has been working on this project for 12 years.

He is financing it and has committed to continue to build this complex for the rest of his life. He has a team that works with him and they are expected to continue the work after he dies.

On the walls a drawing of Neo from the Matrix next to Superman, flying to save the day while airplanes are crashing on the WTC towers. It has been visited by over 5 million people (200,000 foreigners) already since the beginning of its construction in 1997.

This Thai millionaire artist spent his own money to fund the construction of his unique vision without ever soliciting contributions from the Thai government or anyone else.
