Now this is something I do not really recommend people do. I always feel you need to make some visits over to get the feel for Southeast Asian culture. Also to determine what city or environmemnt you would like to live in. Some people like the beaches and some like the mountains.

Try to come over though not as a tourist but as a resident. What I mean by that is do not do the tourist stuff. Or if you do, get it out of the way quickly. You want to live like you would if you were an everyday resident. Get a feel for what your life would be like.
