Join me in part 2 of my road trip to Khon Kaen, Thailand.
Let’s look at apartment costs, some shopping choices, medical needs and cheap food.
Khon Kaen ขอนแก่น, is one of the four major cities of Isaan, Thailand. Khon Kaen is a regional center for education, financial institutions, government offices and transportation. Khon Kaen province is the second-largest of the north-eastern provinces of Thailand.
The city is bisected by Mithraphap Road, also known as “Friendship Highway”, or “Highway 2”, the road linking Bangkok to the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.
Khon Kaen’s winters are dry and very warm. Temperatures rise until April—a very hot month, with an average daily maximum of 36.4 °C (97.5 °F). The rainy season runs from May until October, with heavy rains and somewhat cooler temperatures during the day.
So let’s take a look at whether it is a good place for a RIPper (Retiree In Paradise) to live out their life. Can a RIPper on a Cat. 1 budget have a good life in Khon Kaen? Let’s check it out and see.
