Chiang Mai, Thailand, is often known in many circles as the Rose of the North, but it really comes to life in February.Every year on the first weekend of February, the Chiang Mai Flower Festival is happening and is a big draw for Thais as well as visitors and foreigners living in Chaing Mai.
The flower gardens in public areas all around the town of Chiang Mai are totally manicured and replanted at this time of year.
Everywhere there can be found beautiful displays of chrysanthemums, and the Damask Rose, a variety of rose found only in Chiang Mai. Also on display are the pink and purple Dendrobium orchids, and the yellow Daoruang.
The real area of beauty and activity though of this Chiang Mai festival is the public park Suan Buak Haad on the south-western corner of the moat.
The inside road of the moat all around the park is closed to traffic. Instead set up are growers of plants, Thailand flowers, Thailand orchids and of course food!
Check out this beautiful event.
