While hiking I came across an ascetic monk who lives in a cave in the mountains of Thailand. You never know what you will stumble across if you tread off the beaten track. He seemed very happy and content. I learned something from this monk. There’s always an option!
I just love it when I stumble across the unexpected. This was one of those times.
It happened again in Mae Hong Son when a monk led me down into a cave that went on for hours. I will have to get back there and have the monk take me all the way to the end.
These are the moments that speaking Thai really changes your experience.
