News Flash! Americans Say They Will Work Until They Die!

Well I am shocked. New surveys from Forbes, Wells Fargo and CNN say that Americans now feel that they will have to work until they are eighty years old and many feel they are going to have to work until they die!

Yikes! What happened to “The Golden Years”? Check out these scary survey results.

America’s in a retirement crisis.

Young people haven’t saved enough for their retirement. Older people will have to work more years. Public pension benefits are now on the chopping block and many are on the verge of being slashed and reduced, and Social Security’s future is a crap shoot.

And now what do Americans think? In its annual retirement study of middle-income Americans (income of $25,000 to $100,000), Wells Fargo asked participants if they expect to work until they die.

Wells Fargo included the question based on a previous survey where they asked how many expect to work until they are at least 80. The result of that question was at 34 percent in this year’s survey, a big rise from 25 percent result  from a survey two years ago. This new result equates to just under two in five Americans who now believe they will never be able to retire.

Considering people used to retire at 65 years old it’s  now looking like the grave is the new 65 for a very large percentage of American citizens.

I am shocked. For most people, just paying the day-to-day bills is overwhelming them. Surveys now show that fifty-nine percent say their top financial concern is just coming up with the money to pay everyday bills, and 42 percent told Wells Fargo in their survey that it is no longer possible to pay them every month and save for their retirement.

Their new retirement plan could become to work until they keel over at the job.  Yikes!
