JC's Day Trip to Samoeng 2012, Thailand

One of the most fun outdoor activities in northern Thailand is cruising around the country roads that wind through the hills around Chiang Mai. And people who like day trips from Chiang Mai will be pleased to know there is one cool option.

You can take your own bike or rent a bike and do it.
Getting away from Chiang Mai’s hectic, polluted and slightly dangerous driving conditions is great. Traffic slows to a trickle as the scenery changes from businesses into the lush foothills and eventually deep into the mountainous North Country. This is a gorgeous journey, especially for motorcyclists.

I did this last year and bought the only sweet strawberries I have ever had in Thailand and fresh macadamia nuts. I am craving both but not sure of the timing of my excursion and the growing season. But who cares right? It is not the destination, it’s the journey.
