Retiring on a budget? For only $214 a month you could rent a two bedroom and two bath house with a yard in Chiang Mai, Thailand… and that includes electricity (cool season Air Cond. off!). This fits well into the budget conscious retiree.
Note that finding these deals takes a bit of time. Usually the sign is written in Thai language.
My strategy is to get a Thai person to take down the phone number and then I give them a set of questions to ask.
Specifically the cost of rent is important because they will get quoted the price for Thai people.
Once the cost of rent has been established I set in and go look at the the house to see if it is within my budget and standards.
